General information

Registrations for all courses can only be made personally at the Language Centre Office during the given registration period and opening times. Registrations cannot be made per email or by telephone. PLUS students please note: registrations via PLUSonline is not possible.  

You may also need to take a placement test at the Language Centre before you can register for a course. Please make sure you have enough time for consultation (and placement test if necessary) and registration (approx. 45 minutes).

To register you need:

Course number and course name and, if required, the result of the placement test. The test is carried out on site, see course selection and placement.

– a valid e-mail address and telephone number

– Course fee (debit or credit card, cash payments are not possible)

– for PLUS and Mozarteum students: the student ID card valid for the current semester or confirmation of enrolment

Please allow sufficient time for counselling (if necessary, placement test: 20-25 minutes) and registration.

Registration is only possible in person at the Language Centre office. Registrations by telephone or e-mail cannot be accepted.

Right of withdrawal (online registration)

You have the right to withdraw from your contract within fourteen days from the date of registration without giving any reason. In order to do so, please inform the Language Centre of the University of Salzburg (Erzabt-Klotz-Straße 1, 5020 Salzburg, sprachenzentrum(at)plus.ac.at) of your decision to withdraw from this contract by means of a clear declaration (by e-mail). For this purpose, you may use the sample withdrawal form, which is, however, not mandatory. To comply with the withdrawal period, it is sufficient that you send the notification of exercise of the right of withdrawal before the expiry of the withdrawal period.

Consequences of the withdrawalIf you withdraw from this contract, we shall reimburse you all payments we have received from you without undue delay and at the latest within fourteen days from the day on which we received the notification of your withdrawal of this contract. For refunding of the course fee, we will use the same means of payment that you used for the original transaction.

Special course on Romance languages

In addition, we offer in the summer semester a 2-hour course on Romance Languages for those who already have a good knowledge of French, Italian or Spanish (B1 and above) and would like to acquire parallel competences in other Romance languages.

Registration appointment

Please note: You need an appointment to register for a language course and appointments can only be made ONLINE via this page:

• from Wednesday, 06.09., 08:30: appointments for external participants, alumni club members, university staff (PLUS und Mozarteum) and MORE participants for the 1st registration period.
• from Wednesday, 13.09., 08:30: appointments for students of the PLUS and the Mozarteum for the 2nd registration period.

Important: The link to make appointments will only appear from 6.9. or 13.09. External participants must confirm their appointment (via a confirmation link that you will receive by e-mail).

Please also note that making an appointment does not mean you have registered for a language course. If you have booked an appointment but cannot come, please inform us so that the appointment can be given to someone else.

Note on data protection: For the purposes of making an appointment, the personal data you provide in the online form will be stored. Your data will be deleted after the end of the registration period.

Christmas Holidays

The Language Centre will be closed from 23 December 2020 to 6 January 2021 inclusive. We are available again from Thursday, 07.01.2021, on at our opening hours.

Easter Holidays

The Language Centre will be closed from Monday, 15 April to 24 April inclusive. The Language Centre will reopen on Thursday, 25 April 2019.
We wish you a Happy Easter and relaxing holidays!

Summer Office Hours

Please note our office hours during the summer (July and August):
Monday to Thursday: 9am to 12 noon
Monday + Wednesday: 2.30pm to 5.00pm

Making Appointments online

• Please note: between 21-29 September 2020 registration for courses is only possible by appointment.
• From Wed, 16 September, 08.30 on, you can make an appointment for the period from 21 to 29 September 2020 to register for courses at the Language Centre;
• Appointments can only be made online at www.uni-salzburg.at/sprachenzentrum. Please note that an online appointment is NOT a course registration.
• As of Wed, 30 September 2020, you can register for language courses without prior appointment at the Language Centre during office hours.

As of Monday, 24 February 2020 you can register for language courses at the Language Centre without prior appointment at the Language Centre during office hours. There may be long waiting times on this day and we kindly ask for your understanding.

Appointments can no longer be made for the period of 17 to 21 February.

You will find those updates next to the course description. To get there click on Courses at the Language Centre, then on Course programme and then on Summer semester 2021. There you choose the language you want to learn and then you click on Courses.

For any full courses there is still the possibility to be waitlisted.

Registrations for language courses in the Summer semester 2021 are no longer possible.
