Through my research, I aim to gain a better understanding of natural hazards, their interactions and cascading effects, and their impacts on the environment and society. I focus on the development of remote sensing-based methods for mapping, monitoring, and characterising various natural hazards (particularly landslides) and geomorphological features, and assessing spatio-temporal landscape dynamics in an interdisciplinary manner. I am curious about the use of geospatial technologies and data visualization to analyze environmental processes and to communicate them effectively. My current research focuses on the mapping and monitoring of natural hazards and geomorphological processes. More…
With data science and AI-based methods, my research aims to understand, map, and correlate physical processes using multi-modal Earth Observation data (optical, SAR, thermal). I enjoy working on practical applications and analyses from biophysical and physiological points of view at various scales: from studying a leaf, up to mapping an entire study area or region. More…
My research focuses on methodology development for remote sensing data integration and classification. By using a variety of Earth Observation data, I aim for a better understanding of landscape evolution through space and time. More…
My research focuses on the processing of remote sensing data using a range of methods, with a specific interest in radar data, its analysis and application in the context of natural hazards and climate change. More…
I am interested in how climate change and natural hazards are connected as well as the different remote sensing methods to detect them. By investigating (machine learning) models I want to further analyze natural connections between climate change and natural hazards to predict future developments and impacts. More…

Roberto Mulero-Martinez, MSc [2021/2022]
Researcher | PhD candidate at University of Cádiz
The aim of my research is to improve and exploit remote sensing products in coastal areas for understanding the different agents involved in ocean dynamics, with a special interest in obtaining realistic surface currents and sea level variability measurements in coastal areas, using high-resolution altimetry data, land-based high-frequency radar and numerical weather prediction model such as WRF.
Bowen Gao, B.Eng. [2021/2022]
PhD candidate at Zhejiang University
My research focuses on a combination of remote sensing and (deep) machine learning applied to geoscience big data analysis. I am currently working on the aeolian landform mapping and modelling by integrating remote sensing and numerical simulation.
