The goal of the PhD-Seminar Series is to provide a dynamic platform for PhD students to engage in diverse academic presentations, discussions, and workshops while fostering a supportive community through social gatherings and a summer retreat. This initiative aims to enhance research skills, facilitate networking, and drive forward key topics in GIScience/Geoinformatics. Active participation is a requirement and the students will be taking active part in the seminar as session moderators. The first two semesters of the PhD seminar are intended for a critical discussion of the research topic and a tailoring of the research questions, methods and the empirical research planned, where the defence of the Disposition is the core for the PhD student. The last semester can be used to defend the research against colleagues and supervisors and to prepare for the defence of the thesis.

The PhD seminar will take place the first thursday of the month, plus a PhD retreat in the summer semester. Attended seminars will be credited with a total of 8-12 ECTS.
