Overview of our current research interests

Materials Chemistry

The art of designing pores…

… is a highly challenging and at the same time a very creative process in materials chemistry. Welcome to our exploration of sol-gel chemistry and the fascinating world of porous materials design. Sol-gel chemistry is a versatile and powerful approach for creating a myriad of materials with tailored properties, ranging from optical coatings to biomedical implants. Within this realm, the design of porous materials stands as a cornerstone, offering a vast array of applications across diverse fields such as thermal insulation, adsorption, catalysis, sensing, or energy storage.

Beyond our daily journey of creativity and innovation in structuring materials at the nanoscale by precursor design, novel templating strategies, and processing opportunities, we are also acknowledging our environmental responsibility by striving to develop porous materials through sustainable synthesis routes, utilizing renewable feedstocks, minimizing waste generation, and prioritizing energy-efficient processes.
