Lahnsteiner-Judtmann

STATE PRIZE FOR EXCELLENT TEACHING

Angelika Lahnsteiner was honored on September 11. 2024 with the Ars Docendi State Prize for excellent teaching at Austrian universities. The prize is awarded in five categories and is endowed with 7,000 euros each. In 2024, 171 projects were submitted and 406 people were nominated.

The jury was particularly impressed by the award winner’s methodical approach to teaching, which manages to consolidate previously acquired knowledge and link it to new content. In its statement, the jury emphasized that a modern lecture culture consists not only in the successful transfer of knowledge, but also in the ability to orient students in an abundance of information, to demonstrate the importance of knowledge and to link the teaching content within the course of study.

The Ars Docendi State Prize for excellent teaching at public universities, universities of applied sciences, private universities and university colleges of teacher education in Austria is awarded to emphasize both the central role of teaching in the academic system and the important cooperation in the tertiary education sector. In addition, the award serves to promote quality development in university teaching and represents the highest possible recognition for teachers in Austria.
