Professional practice (§8 curriculum)
Background
Students are recommended to complete a job-oriented internship within the framework of the free elective subjects in the amount of 4 weeks in terms of full employment (this corresponds to 6 ECTS credits = 4 weeks of full employment or 4×40 weekly working hours; this resulting 160 working hours can also be divided aliquot over more than 4 weeks).
The internship must have a meaningful connection to the study program and this circumstance must be approved by the responsible governing body of the study program (= chairperson of the Curriculum Commission Medical Biology) prior to the start of the internship.
The following qualifications, among others, can be acquired within the framework of the job-oriented internship:
- Application of acquired subject-specific competencies in a professional context.
- Getting to know application scenarios of subject-specific scientific concepts
- Acquisition of soft skills (e.g. teamwork, communication skills, planning skills) in a professional context
- Assessment of economic and socio-political framework conditions of bioanalytical and medical technologiesProfession-specific networking and practice-oriented project management

Procedure
- Before the start of the professional practice, all necessary information must be entered in the following form and submitted to the responsible governing body for study law (email to )
- If the application is approved, a confirmation will also be issued to the office or institution supervising the professional practice.
- During the professional practice, an activity report must be prepared.
- This must be confirmed by the body or institution supervising the work-oriented practice after completion of the practice.
- After receipt of the confirmed activity report, a certificate is issued by the competent governing body of the study program, which entitles the student to recognition in the free elective subject.
