Concept of the program
This program aims to provide students with in-depth insight into the field of international intellectual property (IIP) law. This area of law is essential for international economic relations and for promoting technological development. Lacking intellectual property protection or different protection standards in different countries is a severe obstacle to economic development and international trade and investment. This program is unique, as it links teaching, practical experience, and scientific debate in the field.

We will start with a basic introduction to IIP law and the special fields of patent law, trademark law and copyright law. We will continue with an excursion to the Max-Planck-Institute and to Finnegan IP Law Firm in Munich. The last two days of the program will permit students to participate in an international IIP conference with experts in the field from the US, India, Europe and China. Based on the introduction of the first days, the conference will allow sudents to acquire a deeper understanding of current IIP issues, interact with experts in the field and acquire knowledge on the profession of an (I)IP lawyer.
