Miriam Lisa Ljubijankic is a doctoral candidate at the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg, conducting research within the project “Renegotiating the Past: The Representation of History in English- and German-language Musical Theatre Repertoire since WWII.” She completed both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music and Dance Studies at the same university. Her dissertation examines the staging of gender identities in the context of historicity and socio-historiography in musical theatre.

Her research focuses on the representation and reception of history and gender understandings in musical theatre, popular culture, and video games.

Her Master’s thesis explored the proxemic dramaturgy of image and sound in Disney animated musicals, while her Bachelor’s thesis analyzed perspectives on sexism and post-feminism in the reggaeton genre.

Additionally, she investigates artists in dance scenes from the fin de siècle to the interwar period, with particular emphasis on critically reflecting on pop cultural receptions that prioritize offstage scandals as the main reference in collective memory. In doing so, she aims to highlight the artistic aspects and work processes, offering and developing an alternative to scandal-oriented perceptions.
