Department of Musicology and Dance Studies
WELCOME TO MUTAWI SALZBURG!
The unique, close link between music and dance studies sets the Department of Musicology and Dance Studies at University of Salzburg apart from others in Europe. This concept is not only embodied by our faculy but reflected in the department’s location within the Unipark Nonntal in close proximity to other disciplines. In addition to the Derra de Moroda Dance Archives, the department houses several special collections, such as those pertaining to Salzburg’s music history – all of which are easily accessible. One of the highlights studying musicology and dance studies in Salzburg is the department’s dancing studio, where students experiment with bodily thinking at the nexus between artistic practice and theoretical reflection. Co-operatioins with the University Mozarteum Salzburg provide insights into artistic professions, which enhance the professional profiles of our graduates. Guest lectures as well as international conferences, the participation in ERASMUS+ as well as other partnerships with non-European universities offer our students a plethora of possibilities to network internationally and exchange ideas individually. Last but not least, students profit tremendously from the excellent student teacher ratio, which guarantees small classes and outstanding advising.
