FOR APAC successfully launched!

On December 15, the FOR APAC welcomed around 55 participants from universities, ministries, politics, social stakeholders and diplomatic missions during its launch event.

This opening showcased our vision and where we currently stand.  Prof. Brenda Yeoh’s (NUS) keynote lecture “Theorising from Asia… and back to Europe: Decolonising migration studies” excellently connected agenda-setting themes with societal relevance studied/to be studied in a wide range of disciplines. The keynote stirred a number of questions in the Q&A from the audience while the podium discussion engaged with a productive exercise of having transdisciplinary conversations about migration/mobility, the internationalization of higher education institutions, the issue of power and knowledge production, and climate change as well as their interaction as a future research agenda (panelists:  Prof. Petra Dannecker, Prof. John Dunlop,  Prof. Rossella Ferrari, &  Prof. Brenda Yeoh). The recording of the event can be found  here.

We have just begun with this exploratory phase bottom-up. We look forward to having further lively discussions with you in the months!
